The selected candidate will develop a highly published and externally funded research program in analytical isotope geochemistry and geochemistry that includes supervision of undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and laboratory technical staff. The candidate will provide primary oversight of a newly created ICP-MS core facility, which will include new multi-collector and quadrupole ICP-MS instruments (ThermoFisher Neoma and iCAP TQ), a laser ablation system (ESI NWR193), and a clean laboratory housed in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, located within the newly constructed Strong Hall. All laboratory spaces are new, although resources for necessary renovations to analytical and clean laboratory space will be provided. Associated responsibilities include financial oversight, any additional equipment purchasing, clean and analytical laboratory set up, and subsequent operation and maintenance of the core facility. The candidate is additionally expected to perform rank-appropriate departmental and university service, and teach introductory courses as well as undergraduate courses and graduate courses in the candidate's specialization.

The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree and show demonstrated excellence through publications and competitive support (e.g., grants, contracts, fellowships) in isotope geochemistry (radiogenic and/or non-traditional stable isotope) and in analytical geochemistry. The candidate must have a minimum of 7 years of research experience beyond the Ph.D. degree by the date the position begins. The candidate is expected to have experience or the capability to set up, run, and maintain multi-collector and quadrupole ICP-MS instruments, a laser-ablation system, and a multi-user low-blank clean laboratory capable of generating very precise geochemical and isotopic data.
