The Carnegie Institution's Earth and Planets Laboratory invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral research position to conduct studies on the origin of presolar stardust grains in meteorites. The primary focus will be on isotopic measurements by secondary ion mass spectrometry (Cameca NanoSIMS 50L) and resonance ionization mass spectrometry (Univ. of Chicago CHILI) and the interpretation of isotopic data in the context of astrophysical models. Additional work may involve Raman and infrared spectroscopy, and focused ion beam preparation of samples for transmission electron microscopy and synchrotron transmission X-ray microscopy. Required qualifications for the position include a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline and experience in one or more of these techniques.
